CUK holds photo-narrative exhibition | KNO

Srinagar, Apr 26 (KNO) : School of Media Studies, Central University of Kashmir (CUK) organized a one-day photo-narrative exhibition at the Nowgam-I academic block of the varsity here Thursday.

The exhibition was conducted by DCJ’s senior faculty member, Mr. Shahnaz Bashir. Young photojournalists, including the graduated and currently enrolled students of the department, exhibited their photo stories or photo essays based on themes like landscape, portraiture, political conflict, off-road adventure and more. Students displayed their photographs, explaining each shot to the visitors who thronged the exhibition during the day.

The visitors included the students, faculty members and public. Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Mehraj ud Din Mir hailed the students for participating in the exhibition. He appreciated the efforts of the department in conducting the event and asked it to organise more such exhibition in future to display the talent of the students. Registrar and In-Charge Dean School of Media Studies, Prof. M Afzal Zargar while speaking on the occasion said, “It's heartening to see DCJ taking such creative initiatives.

I congratulate the department, especially Mr. Shahnaz Bashir for the idea of this exhibition,” he added. Mr. Shahnaz Bashir said, “I curated a photo exhibition in the university a couple of years ago. There are two objectives of curating this exhibition. One is to open the young talent to the society at large and, therefore, encourage them indirectly as well. The second is to make people aware about the talent we have.” DCJ Coordinator, Dr. Asif Khan while appreciating the initiative said, ‘The exercise has proven to be fruitful for students who got an opportunity to showcase their work. The department would continue with this initiative.’
